Ohne Griptape kannst du dein Stunt Scooter Deck nicht catchen. Achte auf die Größe deines Trittbrettes, was übersteht kannst du aber einfach wegschneiden.
A grip tape is a self-adhesive, rough surface that is stuck to the top of your stunt scooter deck. It provides better hold and control by increasing the friction between your shoes and the scooter. Only with a high-quality scooter grip tape will your feet have the necessary grip on the scooter deck.
When buying your grip tape, pay attention to its size. Not all fit every deck. If you ride a particularly long and wide deck, you will also need appropriately large grip tape. Some grip tapes are pre-cut and sold together with the deck. Here you save yourself the cutting, but you can't easily use the grip tape for another deck.
Of course, the grip tape wears out over time and should therefore be regularly replaced. To apply a new grip tape, first remove the old grip tape. You can warm it up with a hairdryer. Peel it off and then clean the surface thoroughly with alcohol or vinegar water. This removes any residues and ensures that the new grip tape adheres well. If you have a new deck, you can skip this step. Now stick the new grip tape on and cut off the excess parts. Use a metal object that can be scratched to run along all edges several times. Then cut the excess grip tape away with a Stanley knife. Tip: Replacing your grip tape is easier if you first remove the rear wheel and the brake.
Yes, replacing the grip tape is an easy process that you can do yourself. Remove the old grip tape, clean the deck thoroughly, and apply the new grip tape as described above.
The more dirt on your grip tape, the worse the grip. Either you replace it or you use a grip tape cleaner. It works like a big eraser and can remove many dirt residues.
The frequency of replacement depends on usage and wear. If the grip tape is worn out, smooth, or heavily soiled and no longer provides the desired hold, it is time for a new grip tape.
